ACADEMIC COLLABORATIONS

MOLA staff work with external partners and academic co-leads on many projects, creating meaningful archaeological legacies for our partners and communities. Our staff are some of the UK’s most experienced archaeological specialists, and can provide access to wider networks and support for developing innovative and high-quality research outcomes.

Our collaborative research projects include our cohort of AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership students, our AHRC and DFG-funded research project Bartmann Goes Global, and our UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship examining archaeology for public benefit.

We are particularly keen to explore research projects that deliver innovation and benefits to our sector and beyond, including these areas of enquiry:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) in archaeology – much of the data produced in archaeology requires manual processing; how can we work with AI to speed this up and deliver enhanced results?

  • Archaeological science – how can techniques from other disciplines be applied to our assemblages and projects?

  • Citizen science – how can we better understand the quality and impact of community engagement, and the science generated by these projects?

  • Learning and development – how can we create effective and impactful e-learning resources for professional and community audiences in archaeology?

  • Visualisation of data and output – how can we present information to aid visualization and interpretation?
