RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
You can get a sense of our varied research outputs – from scholarly articles and PhD theses to exhibition texts and object labels through our Research repository: https://www.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/our-work/research-public-history/research-repository
At any given moment the Science Museum Group supports a number of research projects led by museum staff and external academics. Our research ranges in scale from short fellowships or placements, through to large international projects with multiple stakeholders.
We also run a number of conferences, workshops and events throughout the year. These are held in our Dana Research Centre and Library. This Centre also acts as a hub for collaboration and networking between Science Museum researchers, staff and students. The Science Museum also teaches its own Masters module as part of UCL’s Science and Technology Studies course. The module called ‘Curating the History of Science’ has now been running for several years and is attracting more students than ever before.
The Science Museum Group also runs its own journal. The Science Museum Group Journal is published twice yearly, with scholarly articles by both internal and external authors whose work touches on the collections, practice and concerns of the Science Museum Group and the wider international science museum community
