As a performing arts organisation our research resources are very diverse and include:

Our productions

The RSC produces approximately 15 new productions each year across their three theatres.  The company collaborates with a number of different theatres and production companies nationally and internationally.

International Fellowships programme

We will be sharing work undertaken each year by our international cohort of Fellows via online platforms and in person convening over the coming 12 months. In 24/25 we have nine Fellows including Stephen Bailey, Jemma Desai, Janice Duncan, Tabitha Jackson, Scarlett Kim, Akhila Krishnan, Amy Rose, Amahra Spence and Nami Weatherby.  Their research explores some of the biggest questions facing the creative and cultural sector today including trust and reality in the age of AI, change-making within creative institutions, integrating traditional and innovative workflows, places where ‘liveness’ happens - from stage to site-specific to the metaverse, immersive exhibitions and best-practice for co-creation with audiences, approaches to storytelling in an immersive landscape, artmaking through a disabled-lens, and the role of the artist as an agent of social change in the archive.

RSC Collection

The RSC holds an extensive collection of records and other theatrical memorabilia which is a major resource for those interested in researching historical theatre including:

  • Costume data

  • Set designs

  • Programmes

  • Data on historical touring

Creative Learning

Through our Creative, Learning and Engagement work with primary, secondary and special schools throughout England, we produce a wide range of data on how our work impacts the social, emotional and academic development of children and young people.
