Collaborative PhD programme: The British Library currently awards four AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnerships each year and also welcomes proposals for AHRC and ESRC collaborative doctoral awards.

Doctoral Open Days:  For current and incoming PhD students, our annual programme of Doctoral Open Days offers an introduction to the practicalities of using the Library and help in navigating our physical and online collections.

PhD placement scheme: Our placement scheme supports the professional development of doctoral researchers for future career paths both within and outside academia.

NT-BL Doctoral Fellowships: A research collaboration with the National Trust sees us host two doctoral fellowships per year.

Chevening Fellowships: A collaboration between the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the British Library offering international experts a year-long professional research placement at the Library.

Subject-specific Fellowships: A number of British Library departments have visiting fellowship opportunities in specific subject areas including Americas Studies, Chinese art, music, cartographic collections, and oral history.
